Numerous Benedictine Mesa Baseball Players were celebrated at the recent Cal Pac honors banquet, a testament to their outstanding performances on and off the field.
Leading the charge was Anthony Sortino, who was named Benedictine's Champion of Character. Sortino's embodiment of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership sets a shining example for his teammates and competitors alike.
Joining Sortino in receiving accolades were Alec Larson and Dylan Bangs, who were both named to the All-Academic team. Their commitment to excellence extends beyond the diamond, as they consistently demonstrate dedication to their studies while excelling in their athletic pursuits.
The Redhawk team showcased its prowess with six players earning coveted spots on the All-Conference First Team. Daniel Miranda showcased his skills as the sole first baseman, while Alec Larson secured his place at second base. Jacob Bauler's outstanding performance in the outfield earned him recognition, and Jack Fitzgerald's prowess as a designated hitter was duly acknowledged. Additionally, Kameron Haviland and Justin Bates demonstrated their pitching prowess, solidifying their spots on the team as starting pitchers.
Recognition extended further to three Benedictine athletes named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention team: Cameron Jowaiszas at third base, along with pitchers Jared Cruce and Matt Dinkel. Their contributions to the team's success were invaluable, and their inclusion on this esteemed list is well-deserved.
Finally, Head Coach Joe Silva was rightfully honored as Coach of the Year, marking an exceptional debut season at the helm of the Redhawk team. Silva's leadership was instrumental in guiding the team to an impressive 31-13 record and securing the Cal Pac Regular Season Championship Title.
In celebrating these achievements, we commend all our Redhawks for their unwavering dedication, resilience, and hard work both on and off the field.
