The Benedictine University Mesa women's volleyball team delivered a commanding performance on Saturday night, sweeping Embry-Riddle (AZ) in straight sets. The Redhawks controlled the match from start to finish, winning 25–13, 25–18, 25–19.
After dropping the first two points of the opening set, Benedictine quickly found their rhythm behind the serving of
Adina Ortiz, who sparked an impressive run that flipped a 5–2 deficit into a 12–5 lead. Ortiz tallied three service aces during that stretch, while
Railey Druxman and
Camille Collins each notched key kills at the net. The Redhawks' block dominated the rest of the set, holding Embry-Riddle to just 13 points to take the opener.
Set two continued in similar fashion, as
Vivianna Galvan distributed the ball with precision, recording multiple assists to
Sophie Drollinger,
BelleRose Branconier, and
Janae Moore. Benedictine jumped out to a 7–3 lead and never looked back, with strong serving from
Haley Azzoz and Ortiz helping extend the gap. Drollinger capped the set with a kill to seal a 25–18 win.
The Redhawks carried their momentum into the third and final frame. Though Embry-Riddle managed to keep things close early, Benedictine's balanced attack proved too much. Druxman led the way offensively, while Galvan's setting and Collins' defense at the net kept the Eagles off balance. Azzoz added another service ace late in the set, and Collins' kill closed out the 25–19 victory to complete the sweep.
