Benedictine University Mesa battled hard on their home court Friday night but came up short against Life Pacific, falling 3–1 (28–26, 18–25, 25–20, 25–18).
The Redhawks came out strong in the opening set, pushing the Warriors to extra points. Despite rallying from a 16–10 deficit with a serving run from
Adina Ortiz, Benedictine couldn't hold off a late surge from Life Pacific as the visitors took the first set 28–26.
Benedictine responded well in the second frame, using strong play at the net from
Railey Druxman and
Sophie Drollinger to even the match. The Redhawks closed the set on a dominant 9–2 run, capped by a pair of service aces from
Vivianna Galvan, to win 25–18.
However, momentum shifted in the third set as Life Pacific jumped out to a quick 6–0 lead behind the serving of
Marlayina Masani. Despite several kills from Druxman and Drollinger, the early deficit proved too much to overcome as the Warriors claimed the set 25–20.
In the fourth, Life Pacific's attack continued to find its rhythm, pulling ahead early and never looking back. The Warriors secured the match with a 25–18 victory to seal the 3–1 win.
