The Benedictine Mesa Women's Volleyball team delivered a strong performance on Thursday night, sweeping Park University Gilbert in straight sets (25–22, 25–14, 25–22). Behind a balanced offensive attack and key serving runs, the Redhawks controlled much of the match to secure another conference win at home.
Benedictine came out firing in the opening set, jumping to an early 10–4 lead behind a pair of service aces from
Vivianna Galvan and two more from
Adina Ortiz. Park Gilbert rallied to close the gap late, tying the set at 21–21, but a composed finish from the Redhawks — including a clutch service ace by
Camille Collins and a kill from
Sophie Drollinger — sealed the 25–22 win.
The Redhawks carried that momentum into the second set, dominating from start to finish. Strong serving once again set the tone, as
Haley Azzoz tallied an ace and multiple Redhawks recorded kills off precise sets from Galvan.
Railey Druxman and
Drollinger were unstoppable at the net, while
BelleRose Branconier and
Janae Moore added steady contributions to push Benedictine to a convincing 25–14 win.
In the third and final set, Park Gilbert came out determined, building an early 8–3 lead. But the Redhawks responded with poise. After a timeout, Druxman ignited the comeback with several key kills, and
Collins anchored the front line with timely blocks. Benedictine erased the deficit and closed out the match with a 25–22 victory — capped by a service ace from
Danyell Azzoz.
