The Benedictine Mesa women's basketball team delivered a dominant performance on Friday, overwhelming Navajo Tech 110-17 in a game defined by relentless defense, balanced scoring, and depth. The Skyhawks, who played with only four available players, battled hard but were unable to match the Redhawks' pace and pressure.
Benedictine Mesa set the tone early, racing to a 28-7 lead after the first quarter behind
Olivia Arvallo's sharp shooting and
Kira Nowell's transition play. The Redhawks forced multiple turnovers and converted them into easy baskets, with contributions from
Shyla Moore,
Naomi Elliott, and a deep bench rotation.
The second quarter was more of the same, as Benedictine Mesa extended its lead to 54-10 at halftime. Arvallo added another three-pointer, Moore dominated inside, and
Alexia Wilcox provided a spark off the bench with multiple layups and a late three-pointer.
Tatiyana Howell and
Sole Peterson also chipped in, showcasing the team's depth.
The Redhawks continued to roll in the third, outscoring Navajo Tech 28-0 for most of the period before a late Skyhawks basket. Howell opened the scoring with free throws and a layup, while Northam, Moore, and Wilcox added points in the paint. Lynch connected from deep, and Arvallo capped the quarter with a layup and jumper, pushing the lead toÂ
82-10Â heading into the final frame.
Benedictine Mesa closed strong, hitting the century mark midway through the fourth quarter. Wilcox and Moore continued to score inside, Garcia knocked down a three-pointer, and Lynch added another from beyond the arc. Howell and Peterson combined for late baskets as the Redhawks hit triple digits and finished with a season-highÂ
110 points. Navajo Tech managed seven points in the final quarter, led by Tyra Bitsie and Myabelle Begay, but the Redhawks' depth and defensive pressure proved too much.
