Benedictine Mesa Baseball put up a strong fight against Westcliff in a thrilling extra-inning battle but ultimately fell short, losing 8-7 in 10 innings. The Redhawks came out swinging, generating offense early and maintaining pressure throughout the game. In the top of the first inning, Benedictine managed to get one hit, but a series of strikeouts left them scoreless. Westcliff responded in the bottom of the first, unable to capitalize but keeping the game scoreless.
Benedictine found their rhythm in the third inning, scoring two runs on a double by Jack Moore and a single from Carlos Parra. However, Westcliff quickly answered back with a home run from Varney in the bottom of the third, making it 2-1. Westcliff took the lead in the fourth, scoring two runs due to fielding errors and aggressive baserunning, putting them ahead 3-2.
Benedictine continued to fight, with Preston Vine-Close hitting a triple in the fifth, but they were unable to convert. Westcliff added two more runs in the sixth, increasing their lead to 5-2. However, in the top of the ninth, Benedictine surged back with five runs, showcasing their resilience and offensive power. Parra and Alec Larson each contributed with singles, bringing home key runs to tie the game at 7-7.
As the game reached the bottom of the 10th inning, Westcliff managed to push across the decisive run after a series of walks and singles, sealing the walk-off victory with a final score of 8-7.
