Women's Baksetball Battle Hard but Fall to Arizona Christian in Season Finale

The Benedictine Mesa Women's Basketball Team fell to Arizona Christian 104-56 on Thursday night at home.

First Quarter: Arizona Christian set the tone early with strong defense and efficient shooting. The Redhawks got on the board with a jumper from Olivia Arvallo, but Arizona Christian's quick scoring runs made it difficult for Benedictine Mesa to gain momentum. Nyah Henderson added a layup at the 5:25 mark, and Mya Johnson knocked down a jumper, but the Redhawks trailed 27-6 at the end of the quarter.

Second Quarter: Benedictine Mesa fought to find their rhythm, with Arvallo and Alize Ruiz breaking through for layups. However, Arizona Christian's defensive pressure forced multiple turnovers, leading to fast-break points. The Redhawks managed a few late baskets, including free throws from Nyah Henderson, but Arizona Christian closed the half with a strong offensive push, extending their lead, 52-14.

Third Quarter: Benedictine Mesa came out determined in the third quarter, with Ruiz scoring a layup and securing key defensive rebounds. Henderson and Johnson worked together to add inside baskets, while Maria Moore and Johnson connected from beyond the arc. The Redhawks' defensive intensity led to turnovers, keeping Arizona Christian from running away with the game. Despite the effort, Arizona Christian maintained their lead heading into the final quarter.

Fourth Quarter: Benedictine Mesa continued to battle, with Arvallo knocking down a three-pointer and Alexia Wilcox converting both free throws. Henderson added a late layup off a Moore assist, but Arizona Christian's offense remained relentless. Despite the Redhawks' resilience, Arizona Christian's shooting efficiency sealed the game, leading to a 104-56 final score.
