The Benedictine Mesa Men's Volleyball Team secured a hard-fought victory over Morningside, winning in four sets (26-28, 26-24, 25-16, 25-23).
Â
Set 1: The Redhawks fought through a back-and-forth first set but ultimately fell 28-26. Benedictine started strong with dominant net play from
Trevor Weinert and
Landon Fuller, who combined for key blocks to gain an early edge.
Dapre Rogers also found his rhythm, delivering crucial kills to keep the Redhawks in contention. However, Morningside capitalized on a late service ace and a decisive kill to take the set.
Â
Set 2: Benedictine bounced back in a closely contested second set, edging out Morningside 26-24. The Redhawks opened with a strong defensive presence from Weinert and
John Jakaitis, while Rogers and
Josh Beymer delivered timely kills to maintain momentum. With the score tied at 23-23, Beymer's clutch kill put Benedictine ahead before a Morningside service error and a final Rogers kill secured the set.
Â
Set 3: Benedictine took full control in the third set, cruising to a 25-16 win. The Redhawks jumped out to an early 6-1 lead behind strong serving from Fuller and an aggressive attack led by Rogers and Beymer. Despite Morningside's attempts to rally, Benedictine's efficient offense and solid blocking proved too much, with Beymer delivering the set-clinching kill.
Â
Set 4: The Redhawks sealed the match with a hard-fought 25-23 victory in the fourth set. Fuller and Jakaitis led the offensive charge as Benedictine built an early lead, but Morningside stayed within striking distance. Trailing 21-19 late, the Redhawks regrouped after a timeout and surged ahead with key plays from Rogers, Weinert, and Fuller. Jakaitis and Fuller delivered back-to-back kills to secure the win.
