Box Score The Benedictine Mesa baseball team delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday, defeating Nelson University 10–0 in a seven-inning run-rule victory.
The Redhawks steadily built their lead with a well-rounded offensive attack. The scoring began in the second inning when Ivan Santos grounded out to second base, allowing Sam Ruchala to score an unearned run. Santos came through again in the fourth with an RBI single through the right side, scoring Jude Sullivan and making it 2–0.
Benedictine broke the game open in the fifth inning. Jacob Bauler laced a three-run double down the left-field line, bringing home Carlos Parra, Jack Moore, and Ethan Graham. Ruchala followed with an RBI single to score Bauler, and Tyler Jackson later reached on a wild pitch after striking out, which allowed Sullivan to score. Another wild pitch brought Ruchala home, extending the lead to 8–0.
In the sixth, Ben Schnurman added an unearned run with an RBI double that scored Bauler. The Redhawks capped their scoring in the seventh when Moore singled to shortstop, driving in Jackson before being tagged out in a rundown.
