Baseball Lights Up the Scoreboard in Consecutive Matchup

Corban Game Recap
Benedictine Mesa exploded out of the gate and never looked back, using a dominant offensive performance to defeat Corban (OR) in a high-scoring matchup.

The Redhawks set the tone early in the bottom of the first. Oliver Davies got things started with a solo shot to left, and after Jack Moore reached on a hit-by-pitch, Tyson Treadgill drove him in with an RBI double. Moments later, Ben Schnurman launched a two-run homer to push the lead to 4–0 after just one inning.

Corban answered with a run in the second on  Mertlich's RBI single, but Benedictine Mesa responded quickly. In the bottom half, Davies and Moore set the table again, and Treadgill delivered another RBI single to extend the lead to 5–1.

Corban clawed back in the fourth when Bateman connected for a two-run homer, cutting the deficit to 5–3. But the Redhawks answered with a massive seven-run bottom of the fourth, fueled by timely hitting and defensive miscues. RBI singles from Treadgill, Cooper Jeffries, Javier Rochin, and Davies—plus a hit-by-pitch RBI and a pair of unearned runs—blew the game open to 12–3.

Corban kept swinging, getting a two-run homer from Shaffer in the fifth, but Benedictine Mesa continued to pile on. A sacrifice fly from Blake Swanson and another RBI single from Rochin pushed the lead to 14–5.

The Redhawks sealed the game with a six-run sixth inning. A wild pitch scored Schnurman, Swanson drew a bases-loaded walk, and then Rochin delivered the biggest swing of the day—a grand slam to left, stretching the lead to 20–5.

Benedictine Mesa's explosive offense—highlighted by multi-hit days from Davies, Treadgill, Jeffries, Durazo, Rochin, and others—proved overwhelming as they secured a decisive victory.

Key Players:  Evangel Game Recap
Benedictine Mesa shook off an early three-run deficit and responded with a dominant offensive surge, scoring 10 unanswered runs to secure a 10–4 victory over Evangel (MO).

Evangel struck quickly in the opening frame, capitalizing on a two-out opportunity. After a pair of baserunners reached, Edwards delivered the big swing—a three-run homer to left—to give the Valor an early 3–0 lead.

But the Redhawks immediately answered in the bottom half of the inning. Jack Moore was hit by a pitch to spark the rally, and consecutive baserunners loaded the bases. AJ Fernandez forced in the first Benedictine Mesa run after being hit by a pitch, and Cooper Jeffries followed with a fielder's-choice RBI to trim the deficit to 3–2.

In the second inning, the Redhawks took control. Moore tied the game with an RBI single, scoring Ethan Graham who crossed the plate unearned. Two batters later, Ben Schnurman delivered the decisive blow—a three-run home run to left—to put Benedictine Mesa ahead 6–3 and swing all momentum toward the home dugout.

The Redhawks continued to capitalize on Evangel miscues in the fourth inning, extending the lead without recording a hit. A hit-by-pitch RBI to Jeffries and another to Zeus Durazo plated two more unearned runs, pushing the advantage to 8–3.

Benedictine Mesa added insurance in the seventh. Oliver Davies laced an RBI single to right, scoring Kyan Roseland, before a heads-up baserunning play brought home Blake Swanson on a pickoff attempt, widening the margin to 10–3.

Evangel scratched across one more run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly from Jno-Baptist, but the Redhawks' early offensive explosion proved too much to overcome.

After falling behind by three in the first inning, Benedictine Mesa responded with discipline at the plate, timely hitting, and a steady flow of pressure that produced 10 unanswered runs—enough to secure another strong home victory.

Key Players:  Looking Ahead: The Redhawks are back on the field on Friday. January 30th as they take on Taylor University at home.
