Game 1:
Benedictine Mesa fell to Taylor (Ind.) in the opening game of the day after the Trojans built an early lead and maintained momentum through the middle innings.
Taylor struck first with a five-run top of the first inning, using a string of singles and extra-base hits to jump out in front. The Redhawks answered in the bottom of the frame, showing patience at the plate asÂ
Jack Moore, Anthony Setticasi, BenSchnurman, andÂ
Ty Campbell each worked walks, with Campbell drawing a bases-loaded free pass to bring home a run.
Taylor tacked on single runs in the second and fourth innings and added a decisive three-spot in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run triple and an RBI double, to extend the lead. A solo home run in the sixth provided additional insurance for the Trojans.
Benedictine Mesa continued to compete defensively and, on the mound, but was unable to generate sustained offense, being limited to one hit in the game. The Redhawks threatened with baserunners in multiple innings but could not capitalize, leaving runners stranded in key moments.
