Box Score MESA, Ariz. – After trailing by as many as 20, the Redhawks fought back and kept pace with an undefeated Antelope Valley, but the second-half push went no further as the Redhawks fell to the Pioneers inside of the Coyote Center on Sunday afternoon. The Redhawks are now 3-7 overall and 1-4 in Cal Pac.
Benedictine was led offensively by senior point guard Tre Carolina with 14 points, and 6 defensive rebounds. Jamaal Wright added 11 points while Quincy Reece finished with 10.
Statistically, Antelope Valley entered Sunday's game allowing its opponents only 68.0 points per game on a 40.3 field goal percentage. Those figures held true on Sunday as the Redhawks were limited to 69 points on just 45.8 percent shooting.
The Redhawks would respond late in the game as Wright, Carolina, and freshman Cash Callaway led a charge that allowed the Redhawks to keep pace despite being outscored, 48-40, in the second half. Both teams had 6 turnovers and 6 assists in the second half. The Pioneers had 13 fouls where the Redhawks only had 9 fouls. The Pioneers outrebounded the Redhawks 29-to-14 in the second while totaling 43-to-29 rebounds.
