Michael Kirkland led the way for the Redhawks with 17 points, 5 steals, and 4 rebounds. Jamaal Wright added 14 points and 10 rebounds to notch his first double-double of the season. Damian Zivak was able to land ten points for the Redhawks.
The Redhawks were outshot from the field 40%-to-35% but had better success at the free throw line going 10-for-13 while the Bobcats went 4-for-9. The Bobcats performed better in most defensive categories except for blocks, where the Redhawks had 5 to their 2 blocks.
REDHAWKS – 65, SIMPSON – 75
Three Redhawks scoring at least a dozen points wasn't enough for the Benedictine basketball team, which fell at home to Simpson, 75-65, on Friday in Redding, Calif.
Michael Kirkland led the Redhawks in scoring with 18 points, also adding three rebounds and two assists. Cam'Ron Davis and Jamaal Wright added 13 and 12 points respectively. Dalton Smith had 10 points with 15 rebounds, 3 offensive and 12 defensive.
The Redhawks outshot Simpson in the first half shooting an efficient 46.2% from the field while Simpson only shot 28.6% from the field. Dalton Smith led the offense in the first half with 8 points and added 9 rebounds.
Simpson had a 35.7% shooting mark from 3-point range to break things open in the second half. The Red Hawks of Simpson outshot Benedictine 82%-to-66% at the free throw making 19-of-23 while BenU made 16-of-24 at the free throw.
