Box Score 2 The Benedictine University Mesa men's soccer team defeated the Cal Maritime Keelhaulers, 2-1, on Friday evening and then came out on Sunday afternoon to defeat the Pacific Union Pioneers, 5-1. The Redhawks improve to 2-1-2 overall and 2-0 in Cal Pac.
REDHAWKS – 2, KEELHAULERS – 1
Logan Haricombe collected a brace against the Keelhaulers scoring his first of the match in the 7th minute to put the Redhawks up 1-0. Haricombe added another goal early in the second half to put BenU up 2-0. The Keelhaulers didn't let up and found the net at the 73rd minute bring the score to 2-1.
Donato Gil started in the goal for the Redhawks and completed the match only allowing the one goal and having 3 saves from the Keelhaulers 4 shots.
REDHAWKS – 5, PIONEERS – 1
The first half was an end-to-end affair, with both offenses testing the opposing defensive lines and finding the net. The Pioneers struck first but the Redhawks answered with a goal from Gilberto Rivera just before the clock ran out on the first half.
Gilberto Rivera put the Redhawks ahead in the 47th minute, slotting a shot into net. The goal would start a rally from the Redhawks to continue applying pressure on the Pioneer defense. Joao Alvarez added two goals in the second half and Harlan Katz added a goal of his own.
Freshman goalkeeper Aidan Klein made 2 saves in the match. The Redhawks defensive line held up well against the Pioneer offense in the second half allowing only one opportunity for a shot.
