Box Score RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Benedictine University Mesa men's basketball team pulled off a gritty win on the road, defeating La Sierra University 73-65. The Redhawks improve to 6-6 in Cal Pac and 8-12 overall.
Michael Kirland played a massive role in the Redhawks victory of the Golden Eagles with a game-high 31 points. Kirkland's 31 points is the third highest in program history and that came off 5 three-point field goals, going 4-for-4 from the free throw line, and 6 field goals. Kirkland shot 47.8% from the field, and 55.5% from beyond the arc.
Damian Zivak and Quincy Reece added 13 points and 12 points, respectively, as the only other Redhawks to score in double figures. Reece also finished with 7 rebounds in the game. Jamaal Wright, Dalton Smith, and Tanner Crawford held their own to combine for a total of 24 rebounds.
The Redhawks hit 24-of-62 field goals (38.7%), 8-of-23 three-pointers (34.8%), 17-of-27 free throws (63%) and had 44 rebounds to the Golden Eagles 34 rebounds. The Redhawks committed 12 turnovers and stole the ball 11 times. The Golden Eagles made 23-of-58 shots (39.7%), 7-of-19 three-pointers (36.8%) and 12-of-13 free throws (92.3%).
