SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Benedictine University Redhawks have pulled off their twelfth come from behind win this season with two coming against Vanguard in the opening round of the NAIA Championship Tournament. The Redhawks improve their record to 44-13 overall and 2-1 in the regional tournament.
The Redhawks trailed by three in the bottom of the eight but pulled off a comeback by scoring eight runs off of seven hits on a two out rally.
Josh Hernandez started the scoring with a two RBI single up the middle to bring in
Orlando Lorduy and
Ryan Beer.
Tyler Butterfield singled up the middle to tie the game.
Anthony Sortino kept it going by bringing in the go ahead run.
Carlos Parra,
Kevin Fitzgerald, and Lorduy would all take advantage of their at bats to bring in three more runs for an 11-6 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth.
Bobby Romitti came in to close for the Redhawks and after putting two runners on first and second, struck out three batters swinginbg to finish the game and advance BenU to the final day.

The Redhawks will face Westmont tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. with the if necessary game taking place shortly after.
