MESA, Ariz. – The Benedictine University Mesa women's volleyball team defeated in-state rival, OUAZ, 3-0 (25-22,25-13,25-17) on Tuesday evening inside the Coyote Center. The win puts the Redhawks at 3-0 on the 2023 season and 5-3 against the Spirit since 2017.
The Redhawks outhit the Spirit .217-to-.023 in hitting percentage. The Redhawks had 106 attempts and finished with 37 kills and only 14 errors. The Spirit finished with 88 attempts and 23 kills and 21 errors. BenU held a 16-9 advantage on the block, with
Courtney Ely leading the Redhawks with four blocks.
Kylie Bartel led the offense with 13 kills and added 3 blocks.
Brianna Rivera had 8 kills and 10 digs to lead the defense.
Hailey White finished with a .455 clip and 5 kills in 11 attempts.
Annika Wallace finished with 31 assists, 9 digs, and one block. Rivera also led the Redhawks in service aces with five.
