HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Benedictine University Mesa women's volleyball team opened the Magic Island Classic with a sweep over Truett-McConnell. The Redhawks took the match 25-10,25-20,25-20.
The Redhawks came out strong going on an 11-point run after being tied 2-2 with the Bears. The largest lead the Redhawks held in the first set was at 15 points. The Redhawks had 13 kills in the first set with a .348 hitting percentage. BenU held the Bears to just three kills and hitting negative. The Redhawks best set offensively came in the third with 20 kills and a .432 hitting percentage.
Brianna Rivera led the offense with 13 kills and a .545 hitting percentage.
Kylie Bartel added 11 kills. Freshman
Jewel Carling had 6 kills with a .444 hitting percentage.
Hailey White had 5 kills hit for a .333 clip.

The Redhawks will take on Oregon Tech and the University of Providence (Mont.) on Saturday, Aug. 26 with the first match being at 12 p.m. MST and the second at 11 p.m. MST.
