Women's Volleyball Set for NAIA Opening Round Clash in Idaho

 Benedictine Mesa Women's Volleyball is headed to Caldwell, Idaho, with an at-large bid to face the College of Idaho in the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round this Saturday, November 23. This marks the Redhawks' fourth tournament appearance and their first as members of the GSAC. The team enters the matchup with a 21-7 overall record, having won 7 of their last 10 games.
 
The two teams last faced off in August 2021 at a tournament in California, where the College of Idaho claimed a four-set victory. 
 
Key players for Benedictine Mesa include Kylie Bartel, who leads the offense with 4.14 kills per set. Setter Vivanna Galvan contributes 5.06 assists per set, while libero Hattie Patton anchors the defense with 5.32 digs per set. The College of Idaho boasts a strong lineup featuring Haley McUne, who has recorded 296 kills this season at 2.55 kills per set, and Shelbey Nichol, who has tallied 285 kills with a .276 hitting percentage and 112 blocks. Both were named to their conference's First Team. Setter Savannah Hutchins, an honorable mention in her conference, has 680 assists this season, averaging 5.53 assists per set.
 
The tournament's final rounds will be held at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Pool play is scheduled from December 4–6, with the top team from each three-team pool advancing to the elimination bracket. The quarterfinals will take place on Saturday, December 7, followed by the semifinals on Monday, December 9, and the championship match on Tuesday, December 10.
