The Benedictine Mesa Softball team split their doubleheader with Simpson on Saturday. In the first game, BenU secured a 14-6 victory in 5 innings, but Simpson retaliated in the second game, winning 7-2.
Simpson took an early lead in the first game, scoring two runs in the 1st inning. However, Benedictine swiftly responded in the 2nd inning, accumulating 5 runs from Gabi Perez, Lei Madrazo,
Autumn Giannini,
Brandee Ayala, and
Amanda Clack. The lead shifted back and forth, with Simpson reclaiming it in the 4th inning with 4 runs. But in the bottom of the 4th, BenU surged ahead, scoring 8 runs, including a crucial triple from Lei Madrazo in the 5th inning to seal the victory.
In the second game, Simpson dominated early, scoring 5 runs in the first inning and adding another in the 5th, while BenU managed to score two runs in the bottom of the 5th. Despite their efforts, Simpson scored once more in the 7th, securing a 7-2 win.
