The Benedictine Mesa Baseball team dominated SAGU AIC with a decisive 20-3 victory on Monday night, concluding the game in just 7 innings.
In the opening inning,
Preston Vine-Close and
Carlos Parra crossed the plate thanks to hits by
Jack Fitzgerald and
Alec Larson, respectively.
Kyle Fenner and
Ryan Curran added to the lead off of Larson's single, before
Cameron Jowaiszas capped off the inning with a homer, bringing the score to 6-0.Â
The momentum continued in the 3rd inning as Ivan Santos drove in
Alec Larson, followed by Vine-Close's sacrifice fly, extending the lead to 9-0. SAGU managed to score 3 runs in the top of the 4th, but Benedictine responded with runs from Curran and
Daniel Miranda, maintaining a comfortable lead of 11-3.Â
The 5th inning saw Curran's sacrifice fly and Fitzgerald's home run, widening the gap to 14-3. In the 6th, Santos, Parra, Fitzgerald, and Larson contributed to the Redhawks' commanding lead, bringing the score to 20-3. With the run rule in effect, the game concluded at the top of the 7th inning, securing Benedictine's victory.
