The Benedictine Mesa Baseball Team swept both games against Simpson on Sunday afternoon, securing the series victory. In the first game, they dominated with an 8-1 win, followed by a 4-1 victory in the second game.
In the opener, Benedictine took control in the 6th inning when
Jack Fitzgerald capitalized on a shortstop error to score the first run. Subsequently,
Daniel Miranda's single allowed
Jacob Bauler to score, followed by
Cameron Jowaiszas crossing the plate on a wild pitch.
Jose Romero's single brought Miranda home, extending their lead to 4-0. They continued to add runs, with
Ryan Curran and
Carlos Parra contributing hits that led to further scores. Despite Simpson managing a run in the 8th inning, Benedictine clinched an 8-1 triumph.
The second game saw Simpson take an early lead in the second inning, but Benedictine quickly responded.
Jacob Bauler's homer in the 5th inning drove in two runs, followed by
Alec Larson's hit in the 6th inning that scored
Anthony Sortino.
Oliver Davies' homer in the 7th inning solidified Benedictine's lead, securing the 4-1 win in the shortened 7-inning game.
