Softball Defeats Park Gilbert Then Falls to Embry-Riddle in Cal Pac Tourney Day 1

The Benedictine Mesa Softball team secured a victory in their first game of the Cal Pac Tournament but stumbled in their second matchup against Embry Riddle, with scores of 7-4 and 0-13, respectively.

In the opening game, Amanda Clack ignited the Redhawks' offense with a third-inning homer. Leiana Madrazo followed with a crucial triple, driving in Brandee Ayala and Autumn Giannini, while Gabrielle Perez's single brought Madrazo home. McKenzie Hamilton's double added another run, giving Benedictine a 5-0 lead. Despite Park's late push, including two runs in the fifth and sixth innings, Clack's seventh-inning double sealed the 7-4 victory.

However, in the second game, Embry-Riddle dominated early, scoring five runs in the first inning and adding eight more in the fourth, ending the game prematurely at 0-13.

Key players included Amanda Clack, who had an impressive performance with three hits, including a double and a homer, along with one run, two RBIs, and a stolen base. Leiana Madrazo contributed a crucial triple, scoring once and driving in two runs.

Looking forward, the Redhawks advance to day two of the Cal Pac Tournament, facing Park Gilbert for the second time at 12:30 PM.
