The Benedictine Mesa Women's Basketball Team narrowly fell to Life Pacific, 68-72, in a hard-fought game on Saturday afternoon.
First Quarter:
Life Pacific opened strong, jumping to an early lead with sharp shooting, including three-pointers from Chloe Zazueta and Adrianna Torres. Benedictine struggled to find rhythm offensively but chipped away with key free throws and inside play from
Alexia Wilcox and
Dyamond Butler-Worley. Life Pacific ended the quarter ahead 21-9.
Second Quarter:
Benedictine made adjustments and showed flashes of resilience. Despite Life Pacific extending their lead to 30-13, the Redhawks battled back with a three-pointer from Torres and free throws from
Alize Ruiz. By halftime, Benedictine trailed 42-27.
Third Quarter:
The Redhawks gained momentum, fueled by
Maria Moore's impressive performance, including a three-pointer and layup that cut the deficit to single digits. However, Life Pacific's perimeter shooting and defensive rebounding helped them maintain control, closing the quarter with a 55-46 lead.
Fourth Quarter:
Benedictine surged late in the game, with Moore and Butler-Worley leading the charge. Moore's clutch three-pointer and layup tied the game at 68-68 with just over a minute remaining. However, a late basket by Life Pacific sealed the win for the Warriors. Benedictine's valiant comeback fell just short in the final seconds.
