The Benedictine Mesa Women's Basketball Team delivered a gritty performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating Embry-Riddle 70-61.
1st Quarter:
Benedictine set the tone early with strong defense and efficient offense led by
Alize Ruiz, who dominated the boards and opened the scoring after a key steal.
Maria Moore added a three-pointer, and
Mya Johnson connected from deep to give the Redhawks a 14-6 lead. Despite Embry-Riddle's response, including a three-pointer from Hannah Urbano, the Redhawks maintained control. With contributions from the bench and excellent ball movement, Benedictine ended the quarter leading 18-15.
2nd Quarter:
The Redhawks kept the pressure on in the second period,
Olivia Arvallo drained a three-pointer early, and
Naomi Elliot and
Xaria Culver provided critical plays off the bench. Embry-Riddle managed to close the gap with key baskets from Micaela Hidalgo and Ella Schott, but Benedictine's balanced scoring, highlighted by a late three-pointer from

3rd Quarter:
The third quarter saw Benedictine withstand a strong push from Embry-Riddle. Ruiz and Arvallo led the offensive charge, while the defense, anchored by Alexis Emerson-Berry and
