Box Score The Benedictine Mesa Men's Basketball Team put forth a strong effort but ultimately fell short against OUAZ on Saturday afternoon, with a final score of 65-57.
First Half Recap:
The Redhawks came out with energy and teamwork, quickly responding to OUAZ's opening three-pointer, by
Deven Franks who sank a shot to tie the game at 3-3. Benedictine took the lead with another three from Franks, putting them ahead 6-3. But OUAZ responded taking the xlead to 9-6, and then further pushing the advantage to 15-8. Despite the Redhawk's efforts to rally, OUAZ finished the first half strong, leading 34-27 at halftime.
Second Half Recap:
The second half opened with back-and-forth action as
Deven Franks hit a three-pointer to narrow the deficit to 34-30.
Tanner Crawford followed up with a basket, but OUAZ quickly answered. As the half progressed, the Redhawks battled to keep pace with OUAZ, who began to pull away with a three-pointer from Hunter Richardson. Despite missed opportunities, Benedictine showed resilience, with Elniel and Payton making key plays to keep the score competitive.
Benedictine continued to fight, with a jumper from
Deven Foster bringing the score to 46-44. However, OUAZ maintained composure, pushing their lead to 52-44. The Redhawks called a timeout to regroup and managed to cut the deficit to four points late in the game, but OUAZ sealed their victory at the free-throw line, ending the game at 65-57.
