The Benedictine Mesa women's soccer team fell to Life Pacific on Thursday afternoon, 8–2, in GSAC play.
Life Pacific came out strong, putting early pressure on the Redhawks. The Warriors struck first in the ninth minute when
Stevie Spencer found the back of the net off an assist from
Brianna Figueroa. Despite several key saves from Benedictine goalkeeper
Twyla Morgan, Life Pacific continued to control possession and added two more goals late in the first half — one from
Figueroa in the 41st minute and another from
Spencer just before halftime — to take a 3–1 lead into the break.
Benedictine's lone first-half goal came in the 28th minute when
Paula Gonzalez Castro broke through the defense and buried the equalizer to make it 1–1 at the time.
In the second half, Life Pacific extended its advantage with a flurry of goals.
Hannah Gonzales opened the scoring in the 51st minute, followed by back-to-back goals from
Angela Scott in the 61st and 63rd minutes.
Alexa Monge capped off the scoring with two late goals — both assisted by
Figueroa and
Isabella Lara — sealing the 8–2 win for the Warriors.
The Redhawks added their second goal in the 55th minute when
Jodie McCulloch converted a pass from
Tori St. Rose, but the deficit proved too much to overcome.
