Benedictine Mesa Women's Basketball fell to Park–Gilbert 52–48 on Saturday afternoon.
The Redhawks opened with strong defensive pressure, holding Park–Gilbert scoreless early and trading baskets through a tightly contested first quarter. Shyla Moore and Alexia Wilcox paced the offense, with Wilcox's late drive giving Benedictine a 12–11 lead after one.
Scoring slowed for both sides in the second quarter, but Benedictine stayed in front by owning the boards and earning trips to the free-throw line. Kira Nowell knocked down two key jumpers, while Moore and Wilcox added steady free throws to send the Redhawks into halftime up 23–20.
Momentum continued in the third, sparked by back-to-back threes from Olivia Arvallo. Moore continued to work inside, and the Redhawks forced several turnovers to build a 40–35 advantage heading into the fourth.
Park–Gilbert surged late, using second-chance points and timely threes to close the gap. Moore tied the game at 48–48 with just over two minutes remaining, but missed late opportunities and turnovers allowed the Bucs to pull ahead. Park–Gilbert sealed the win at the free-throw line.
