The Benedictine Mesa Men's Soccer team punched their ticket to the
GSAC Championship after a hard-fought
1–0 win over Arizona Christian in the conference semifinals on Friday afternoon.
The opening half was a physical, tightly contested battle as both teams looked for an edge. Benedictine's
Gergo Varga was active in the attack, creating several early chances, while goalkeeper
Moritz Ae made critical stops to keep the Firestorm off the scoreboard. Despite multiple corner kicks and blocked shots, the teams entered halftime locked in a 0–0 draw.
The Redhawks broke through midway through the second half when
Ryder Skolka found the back of the net in the 71st minute — his first goal of the season — assisted by
Shiloh Perez.
Arizona Christian pressed forward in the closing minutes, but Benedictine's backline, anchored by Ae's composure in goal, held firm to secure the clean sheet and the semifinal win.
