The Benedictine Mesa beach volleyball team fell just short against The Masters, dropping a 3-2 decision on Wednesday afternoon.
The Redhawks picked up wins in the No. 1 and No. 5 flights. Taylor Erickson and Kylie Bartel battled through three sets to defeat Annika Gudnason and Evi Roberts (21-15, 20-22, 15-9), while Sophie Drollinger and Ella Burton secured a straight-set victory over Ellie Niehus and Ellie Unruh (21-16, 21-16).
Despite these strong performances, The Masters clinched the match with wins in the remaining three flights. Faith Wada and Zoe Yates edged out Amaya Evans and Annika Wallace in a tight battle at No. 2 (21-19, 21-18). Grace Colburn and Violet Avila claimed a two-set win over Megan Hicks and Daisey Motes (21-16, 21-17), and Ashlyn Unruh and Isabela Rodriguez overpowered Nichole Gary and Anna Brytkowska at No. 4 (21-11, 21-15) to seal the victory.
Looking Ahead:Â The Redhawks return to action on Thursday, February 13, with matchups against Life Pacific and Hope International at Arizona Athletic Grounds.
