Baseball Dominates University of Fraser Valley with Explosive Offense

The Benedictine Mesa Redhawks put on an offensive clinic, defeating the University of Fraser 19-9 in seven innings. Despite an early deficit, the Redhawks erupted in the second inning, taking control of the game and never looking back.

University of Fraser got on the board first in the opening frame, as Richards grounded out to shortstop, bringing home Grunerud. Moments later, Chan launched a three-run homer, giving Fraser an early 4-0 lead.

Benedictine Mesa wasted no time responding, capitalizing on Fraser's defensive miscues in the bottom of the second. Willie Tatum reached on an error, allowing Jack Moore to score and cut the lead to 4-1. Ethan Graham followed with an RBI single to make it 4-2. The Redhawks continued their surge, as Carlos Parra reached on a fielder's choice, driving in two runs to tie the game. Ben Schnuman then delivered an RBI single to put Benedictine Mesa ahead 5-4, and Joe Cosenza followed with a two-run double, extending the lead to 7-4. Oliver Davies capped off the explosive inning with an RBI single, giving the Redhawks an 8-4 advantage.

In the fourth, Benedictine Mesa extended its lead with a solo home run from Carlos Parra, followed by Joe Cosenza's RBI double and a two-run blast from Oliver Davies, making it 12-4.

The Redhawks continued to pour it on in the sixth, as Jude Sullivan crushed a three-run homer, pushing the lead to 15-4.

University of Fraser attempted to rally in the seventh, scoring five runs, highlighted by a three-run triple from Martin, trimming the deficit to 15-9. However, Benedictine Mesa answered right back in the bottom half, with Jack. Moore and Jude Sullivan adding RBI singles and Graham doubling in another run. A passed ball allowed Sullivan to score, sealing the dominant 19-9 victory.

The Redhawks return to action on Saturday, March 1, as they take on Jamestown at home at Mesa High School.
