The Benedictine Mesa Men's Volleyball Team pulled off a thrilling reverse sweep against Arizona Christian after dropping the first two sets, winning 22-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-18, 15-13.
Set 1:
Benedictine started strong, taking an early lead with kills from Landon Fuller and Dapre Rogers. The teams went back and forth, with Arizona Christian responding through Connor Monahan and Paul Rolland. A late push by the Firestorm, capped by a Monahan kill, sealed the 25-22 set win for ACU.
Set 2:
BENU controlled much of the set, building a 14-10 lead behind dominant play from Rogers and Daniel Compton. However, ACU rallied, fueled by Jarrett Spartz's service ace and Benedictine's attack errors. The Redhawks fought back to 23-24, but a block by ACU's Torres and Flores secured a 25-23 win for the Firestorm.
Set 3:
BENU took control early, capitalizing on ACU errors and aggressive attacking. A key momentum shift came when John Jakaitis served up an ace, helping Benedictine extend their lead to 13-9. Strong plays from Weinert and Rogers helped the Redhawks cruise to a commanding 25-16 victory.
Set 4:
BENU continued their momentum, controlling the net with blocks from Turcinec, Rogers, and Beymer. A service ace from Rogers pushed the lead to 8-5, and the Redhawks never looked back. Despite ACU's attempts to rally, Fuller and Beymer delivered key blocks late to secure a 25-18 win.
Set 5:
The Redhawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind kills from Fuller and Rogers. ACU fought back, tying it at 5-5, but Benedictine capitalized on ACU errors to extend their lead to 9-6. ACU narrowed the gap to 13-12, but Turcinec and Fuller finished strong, sealing the match with a 15-13 victory.
