The Benedictine Mesa softball team came up short in both games of Saturday's road doubleheader against Hope International, dropping game one 6–1 and falling 7–0 in the second matchup.
Game 1 Recap:
Hope International struck early in game one, scoring twice in the first inning and adding two more in the second to take a 4–0 lead. Benedictine Mesa broke through in the sixth when Paige Salazar grounded out to second, allowing Shayla Young to score an unearned run. However, the Royals responded with a two-run homer by Chacon in the bottom of the inning, extending their lead and securing a 6–1 win. Despite solid efforts at the plate the Redhawks couldn't mount a comeback.
Game 2 Recap:
The second game saw Hope International take control with a five-run second inning, sparked by a string of extra-base hits. The Royals added single runs in the fourth and sixth to round out the 7–0 shutout. Benedictine Mesa struggled to get runners across, despite continued hustle and solid defensive moments.
