Benedictine University Mesa Athletic Department is excited to announce the addition of Women's Flag Football! Beginning in spring 2026, this new program will provide female athletes with an incredible opportunity to compete at the collegiate level while continuing to grow the sport.

Thanks to our strong partnership with Mesa High School, the team will utilize the high school's facilities for both practices and home games, ensuring a high-quality experience for players as they take the field for the first time.

"We are thrilled to introduce Women's Flag Football as our 12th NAIA sport," said Charles Averkamp, Athletic Director at Benedictine University Mesa. "Flag football has rapidly expanded in high school athletics, and we're proud to be among the schools leading the charge in bringing it to the collegiate level. This addition aligns perfectly with our mission to provide student-athletes with competitive opportunities while fostering personal and athletic growth."

Women's Flag Football has been gaining nationwide recognition, with the NAIA pioneering efforts to establish it as a sanctioned sport at the collegiate level. Benedictine Mesa is eager to be at the forefront of this movement, offering female athletes a pathway to continue their passion for the game beyond high school.
