Brian Winstead Named the Head Coach of Women's Flag Football

We are excited to announce that Coach Brian Winstead has been selected as the Head Coach for Benedictine Mesa's first-ever Women's Flag Football team!

Coach Winstead brings more than 15 years of football coaching experience, spanning both flag and tackle formats. A teacher at EVIT and a highly respected leader in the football community, he is known for his passion for player development, strategic innovation, and his ability to help athletes succeed at every level—from youth programs to high school varsity.

For the past three years, Coach Winstead served as the Head Coach of the Girls Flag Football team at Gilbert High School, where he played a key role in launching and rapidly building a competitive program. His leadership helped establish a strong foundation for the sport's growth and visibility at the school.

In addition to his work with the girls' team, Coach Winstead contributed as an Offensive Assistant for the Boys Varsity Football team at Gilbert High, helping to shape their offensive identity and mentoring student-athletes as they made the jump to varsity play. His dedication to the Gilbert football community has left a lasting impact.

Coach Winstead also co-founded and coached a boys' Club Flag Football program, leading teams from 8U to 14U to multiple national championships with immediate success. His coaching philosophy centers on fundamentals, accountability, and preparing athletes to compete at the next level—whether that's varsity, college, or beyond.

We are thrilled to have Coach Winstead leading the charge as we launch this exciting new chapter. His experience, energy, and commitment to excellence make him the perfect choice to build and grow our Women's Flag Football program from the ground up.

Please join us in welcoming Coach Winstead to his new role!
