At Gene Autry Park, Benedictine Mesa opened its 2026 beach volleyball campaign in dominant fashion, earning a 5–0 sweep over Park Gilbert in the season opener.
The Redhawks controlled play across all five flights, using strong side-out efficiency and steady serving pressure to keep the Buccaneers on their heels throughout the afternoon.
Flight Results
Flight 1:
Benedictine Mesa's top pair of
Taylor Erickson and Sophie Drollinger set the tone early with a straight-sets victory over
Adrianna DeMario and Alondra Sanchez, winning
21–10, 21–14. Erickson and Drollinger's rhythm never wavered as they consistently capitalized on transition opportunities and limited Park's ability to string together runs.
Flight 2:
In one of the most decisive results of the dual,
Nicole Gary and Amaya Evans defeated
Lizzy Moyer and Elise Langley 21–11, 21–8. The Redhawks' aggressive serving created immediate separation, allowing Gary and Evans to control the pace start to finish.
Flight 3:
Daisy Motes and Izabella Ducahane earned a tight second-set win to clinch their match over
Porsche Bauer and Marissa Moorhouse, taking the flight
21–12, 25–23. Park battled back in the extended second set, but Benedictine Mesa's composure at the net proved decisive in closing out the sweep.
Flight 4:
The Redhawks'
Ella Burton and Isabella Garey secured another straight-sets victory, topping
Kyla Knight and Hayven Lick 21–13, 21–18. After a more competitive second frame, Burton and Garey sealed the match with strong defensive touches and well-timed side-outs.
Flight 5:
The most competitive battle of the day came at the fifth flight, where
Janae Moore and Bailey Prieto rallied after dropping the opening set to defeat
Aliyah Unseth and Athena Hice 21–23, 21–12, 15–12. Moore and Prieto responded with a dominant second set and held off a late push from Park in the deciding frame.
