Benedictine Mesa beach volleyball delivered a commanding performance Friday afternoon, earning a 4–1 win over La Sierra at the Arizona Athletic Grounds. The Redhawks controlled the match from start to finish, securing victories in four of the five flights and showcasing strong pair chemistry across the lineup.
The tone was set early as the
No. 2 pair,
Amaya Evans and
Nichole Gary, claimed the first point of the day with a decisive 21–13, 21–18 win over La Sierra's Herlinda Casanova and Lanah Bergen.
BENU quickly extended its lead thanks to the
No. 4 duo,
Ella Burton and
Isabella Garey, who powered through a 21–11, 21–15 victory, putting Benedictine Mesa ahead 2–0.
La Sierra captured its lone point of the match at the
No. 5 flight, where Jenni Solano and Joseleen Navarro swept
Bailey Prieto and
Janae Moore 21–14, 21–15 to bring the margin to 2–1.
But the Redhawks closed the door from there.
In a tightly contested battle at the
No. 3 spot,
Daisy Motes and
Izabella Duchaine edged out Anna Ayala and Sakura Pangelinan in straight sets, 22–20, 21–19, sealing the team victory for Benedictine Mesa.
The day concluded with another strong showing from the
No. 1 pairing,
Taylor Erickson and
Sophie Drollinger, who defeated La Sierra's Alisa Gavva and Ava Himstreet 21–14, 21–15 to lock in the final 4–1 match score.
