Benedictine Mesa put up a determined fight at home, pushing Indiana Tech in long rallies and momentum-swings throughout the evening, but ultimately fell in four sets.
Set 1:
The match opened with both teams exchanging points early, as
Travis Kelly,
Chase Jensen, and
Ethan Russel supplied steady offense for the Redhawks. Setter
John Jakaitis helped keep Benedictine in rhythm, connecting with Washington and O'Brien for timely kills.
Strong blocking from
Kelly and
Jakaitis down the stretch kept Benedictine close, but the Warriors were able to finish out and claim set 1.
Set 2:
Set two featured more back-and-forth momentum. O'Brien delivered a key service ace, Russel added multiple kills, and Washington teamed with Jensen for crucial blocks to slow Indiana's attack.
But Tech heated up late in the frame. Despite Benedictine tying the set multiple times behind solid side-out play, Indiana's offense surged behind Kold, Gieseke, and Karns, giving the Warriors the set.
Set 3:
Benedictine opened the third with one of its strongest stretches of the night.
Jensen,
Washington, and
Russel powered the offense, while
Blake Ross delivered a momentum-boosting service ace that pushed the Redhawks ahead.
Even after Indiana rallied, Benedictine maintained control much of the set—until a late Warrior run swung momentum back. But the Redhawks were able to hold on and win their first set of the night.
Set 4:
The Redhawks showed resilience in the fourth, answering Indiana's early run with blocks from Washington, Russel, and O'Brien, plus a key ace from Jensen. O'Brien and Russel continued to anchor the attack, keeping Benedictine close as the teams traded long, scrappy points.
Indiana, however, caught fire midway through the frame. A string of transition kills and a dominant blocking stretch shifted momentum sharply toward the Warriors. Despite continued defensive effort from Benedictine and contributions from
Carson Lee and
Ryder Kelley off the bench, Indiana Tech maintained its run and sealed the match in four sets.
