Benedictine Mesa opened Friday night's matchup with confidence, jumping out to a fast 3–0 lead behind early kills from
Rylon Raczka and
John Jakaitis, along with a strong block from
Travis Kelly and Raczka. The Redhawks looked poised to control the opening frame, but The Master's responded with a run of their own, capitalizing on a string of Benedictine attack errors to take a 7–4 advantage.
The Redhawks regrouped quickly. A three-point surge fueled by
Joseph Washington's blocking presence and consecutive attack errors forced by the Benedictine defense pushed the Redhawks ahead 11–8 and forced a timeout from The Master's. Benedictine continued to pressure from the service line, with
Ethan Russel delivering a crucial ace to make it 19–16.
Despite the momentum swing, The Master's answered late with a 6–1 run, aided by two aces and tough serving that disrupted Benedictine's rhythm. The Redhawks fought off multiple swings, but the Mustangs closed out the first set 25–22.
Set Two:
Set two opened tightly, but a service error and a series of attack miscues put Benedictine in an early 7–2 hole. Washington delivered a kill to stop the run, and service errors from The Master's kept the Redhawks within reach, but the Mustangs continued to apply pressure from the pins.
After a timeout, Washington sparked a small rally with back-to-back kills, and
Ryder Kelley added energy off the bench with three straight scoring plays, bringing the deficit to just 17–13. However, The Master's regained control with a series of kills from Isaac Seltzer and a pair of late service aces to close the set 25–15.
Set Three:
The third set was Benedictine's most competitive stretch early on. After falling behind 2–0, Raczka and Jakaitis responded with a kill and a forced overpass to tie the set at 2–2. The Redhawks kept the frame tight thanks to a strong kill from
Tucker Cunningham and a pair of service aces from Raczka that leveled the score at 11–11.
The Master's, however, again produced a decisive mid-set run. A string of aces and transition kills pushed the Mustangs ahead 15–11, prompting a timeout. Cunningham and Raczka each added kills out of the break, but The Master's offense remained steady, closing the match on a 10–6 push to take the final set 25–17.
