Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball Sweeps Embry Riddle With Explosive Offensive Outing

Benedictine Mesa baseball delivered one of its most dominant offensive performances of the season on Saturday, sweeping Embry-Riddle on the road with wins of 12–8 and 18–4 in Prescott.

Game1:
After falling behind 4–0 early in Game 1, the Redhawks mounted an impressive comeback sparked by Anthony Setticasi's solo homer in the third inning. Benedictine tied the game an inning later with a string of well-executed swings, as Tyson Treadgill doubled and scored on a Tyler Jackson single, followed by RBI knocks from Javier Rochin and Jack Moore to make it 4–4. The fifth inning proved decisive; the Redhawks erupted for six runs on just one hit, capitalizing on four Embry-Riddle errors. Jackson delivered the biggest swing of the frame with a two-RBI double, and aggressive baserunning forced the Eagles into repeated mistakes as Benedictine surged ahead 10–4. BenU tacked on another run in the sixth, and after Embry-Riddle clawed back within striking distance, Schnurman's RBI single in the seventh helped seal the 12–8 victory.

Game 2:
Game 2 belonged entirely to the Redhawks from the second inning on. Trailing 1–0 after an unearned run in the first, Benedictine blew the game open with a six-run second inning highlighted by Jackson's RBI double, Jonas Dyas' run-scoring double, Rochin's RBI single, and a bases-clearing three-run double from AJ Fernandez. One inning later, the Redhawks erupted again—this time for eight runs—starting with three consecutive hit batters and followed by back-to-back RBI walks from Dyas and Rochin. Two errors and a pair of wild pitches brought home additional runs before Oliver Davies capped the outburst with a two-run triple to right, pushing the lead to 14–1. Benedictine continued to pile on in the late innings, with Christian Ramos hammering a solo home run in the sixth and the bench adding three insurance runs in the seventh behind a Samuel Ruchala single, Austin Reiten's two-RBI hit, and another Embry-Riddle error that allowed Dyas to reach and bring home Reiten. With steady pitching and airtight defense the rest of the way, the Redhawks secured an emphatic 18–4 win to split the series.
