Benedictine University Mesa earned a convincing victory over Park University–Gilbert on Tuesday afternoon at the Arizona Athletic Grounds, winning the beach volleyball dual behind strong performances throughout the lineup.
The Mesa squad set the tone early in the No. 1 flight, where
Taylor Erickson and Sophie Drollinger delivered a composed and efficient effort to defeat Park's
Aliya Unseth and Keep Williams (21-9, 21-11). The win gave Benedictine momentum that carried through the remainder of the match.
In the No. 2 flight,
Amaya Evans and Nichole Gary continued Benedictine's success, overpowering
Porsche Bauer and Adriana DeMario with consistent side-out play and strong net defense (21-16, 21-16). The third flight followed a similar script, as
Daisy Motes and Izabella Duchaine controlled the match and earned a straight-set victory over
Elise Langley and Lizzy Moyer (21-17, 23-21).
Park Gilbert found its lone point of the afternoon in the No. 4 flight. The duo of
Kyla Knight and Hayven Lick battled through long rallies and key points to secure a hard-fought win against
Bailey Prieto and Adina Ortiz, preventing a sweep and putting Park on the scoreboard (21-18, 21-16).
The dual concluded with the No. 5 flight, where Benedictine's
Haley Azzoz and Isabella Garey closed out the match in dominant fashion, defeating
Athena Hice and Marissa Moorehouse to seal the overall victory for the Redhawks (21018, 25-23).
