BenU jumped out to an early lead and held strong through a late OUAZ surge, securing a 19–14 road victory in a game defined by efficient offensive drives and key defensive moments.
BenU Strikes First—and Fast
BenU set the tone early in the first quarter, capping a 66-yard drive with a 20-yard touchdown pass to
Isabella Misquez. The one-point conversion was successful on a pass to
Giahni Ruiz, giving BenU a quick 7–0 advantage.
Their momentum continued midway through the quarter. Quarterback
Giahni Ruiz connected again, this time on a 19-yard touchdown strike, finishing a 49-yard scoring drive. Although the conversion attempt failed, BenU extended its lead to
13–0 by the end of the first.
OUAZ Cuts the Gap Before Halftime
OUAZ answered in the second quarter with a sharp, three-play scoring drive. A 14-yard touchdown pass to
Lucy Steigler put the Spirit on the board, trimming the deficit to 13–6 after the failed conversion. That score would hold into halftime as both defenses tightened.
BenU Adds Breathing Room
The only score of the third quarter came from BenU, who leaned on patience and clock management.
Giahni Ruiz powered in a touchdown on a short run to cap an 11-play, 38-yard drive that ate nearly eight minutes. The conversion attempt came up short, but BenU built a
19–6 lead heading into the final period.
OUAZ's Late Spark Not Enough
OUAZ kept the game alive with a huge defensive play in the fourth.
Aaliya Oliver jumped a route and returned an interception
80 yards for a touchdown, electrifying the home crowd and cutting the BenU lead to 19–12 after a successful two-point pass to
Mae Enriquez.
Despite the momentum shift, the Spirit couldn't complete the comeback. BenU's defense closed out the remaining minutes, sealing the five-point victory.
