Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball Split Doubleheader with OUAZ but Capture the Series Win

Game 1:
Benedictine Mesa used a steady offensive push and a pair of homers from Jack Moore to take down OUAZ 9–5 on Saturday.

The Redhawks opened the scoring with a solo shot from Moore in the first, but OUAZ answered with a five-run second inning highlighted by RBI hits from Manny Morales and Evan Mendoza, plus a stolen-home play from Matthew Carter.

Benedictine chipped away with a run in the third before Moore launched a two-run homer in the fifth, cutting the deficit to 5–4. The Redhawks took control in the sixth, scoring three runs—two on a Moore infield single—to move ahead 7–5.

A passed ball added insurance in the ninth, and the Redhawks held off a late OUAZ push in the bottom half to secure the win.
Game 2:
OUAZ rode a five-run sixth inning to a 9–3 win over Benedictine Mesa on Saturday.

OUAZ took an early 1–0 lead in the first on a walk and two Redhawk miscues. Benedictine responded in the second with RBI hits from Zeus Durazo and Ethan Graham to pull ahead 2–1, but the Spirit answered with two runs in the bottom half to retake a 3–2 advantage.

Both teams were quiet until the fourth when OUAZ added a run on a bases-loaded walk. The game stayed tight until the sixth, where the Spirit broke it open with doubles from Isaiah Nava and Camden Knutson, plus an RBI ground-rule double from Evan Mendoza to make it 9–2.

Graham delivered his second RBI double of the day in the seventh, but the Redhawks couldn't cut further into the deficit.

Despite splitting Saturday's games, Benedictine Mesa secured the series with its two wins on Friday.
