Softball Head Coach Rachel Quintero has stepped down from her position to pursue opportunities at the NCAA Division II level. During her tenure, Quintero helped elevate the program into a consistent competitor, culminating in the most successful season in program history in 2026, when the Redhawks posted a 23-23 record.

Reflecting on her time at Benedictine Mesa, Quintero shared:

"After three incredible years at Benedictine University, I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such a special community. Coaching at BENU has been about so much more than wins and losses. It has been about building relationships, developing young people, creating memories, and being part of something bigger than ourselves. I'm proud of what we accomplished together and, more importantly, proud of the people and relationships that came from these three years. BENU will always hold a special place in my heart, and I'm thankful to the student-athletes, coaches, colleagues, alumni, and supporters who made this chapter so meaningful. While I'm excited for what lies ahead, I'll always look back on my time at Benedictine with tremendous gratitude and pride."

Athletic Director Charlie Averkamp expressed his gratitude to Coach Quintero for her dedication, leadership, and commitment to the softball program. He thanked her for the positive impact she made on the student-athletes, the department, and the university, and wished her continued success in her future endeavors.
