Box Score 2 MESA, Ariz. – The Benedictine University Mesa softball team hosted crosstown rival, Arizona Christian University, on Friday evening at Seton Catholic Prep. The Redhawks put up 3 runs in the first game and five in the second and both proved to come up short for a win.
The Firestorm got on the board first, but the Redhawks quickly answered to tie the game and hold it at a standstill until the fourth inning. The Firestorm put up 12 runs in the frame but let the Redhawks score in the fourth and fifth innings.
Tia Craig went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI to lead the offense. Mikenzie Hamilton, Ariana Knight, Samantha Lawrence, and Autumn Giannini all recorded a hit in the game.
The second game started off just like the first with the Firestorm getting on the board first and the Redhawks quickly tying it up at 1-1. Arizona Christian took the lead in the top of the third, 2-1, but it wasn't enough to keep the Redhawks down.
Amanda Clack sent a line drive over the left field fence to take the lead, 4-2. The fourth would go scoreless for both teams but Arizona Christian took control of the game in the 5th inning frame and sealed the win in the 7th inning scoring 8 runs.
Tia Craig and Mikenzie Hamilton both recorded two hits in the game. Amanda Clack, Samantha Lawrence, Stephany Aguirre, and Autumn Giannini all recorded a hit.
