The Benedictine Mesa softball team came up short in both games of Friday's away doubleheader against Hope International, falling 11–0 in game one and 3–1 in a tighter second game.
Game 1 Recap:
The Redhawks fell behind early in game one as Hope International exploded for six runs in the opening inning. Despite Benedictine's efforts to settle in defensively, the Royals kept the pressure on, adding another run in the second and four more in the third to build an 11–0 lead. Offensively, the Redhawks struggled to find a rhythm against a strong Hope pitching staff and were held scoreless throughout the contest.
Game 2 Recap:
Benedictine Mesa bounced back with a more competitive performance in game two but ultimately came up just short in a 3–1 loss. Hope International again struck early, plating a run in the first and adding two more in the following innings. The Redhawks responded in the fifth when Michelle Melendez drove in Leiana Madrazo with an infield single after Madrazo led off the inning with a triple. Benedictine threatened again with runners in scoring position but couldn't break through against Hope's steady pitching.
