Redhawks Battle in the RMC Intercollegiate

The Redhawks battled through three competitive rounds at the RMC Intercollegiate, with consistent performances across the lineup and several standout individual rounds.

Round 1 Recap
The team opened the tournament with a steady first round highlighted by Eric Klutke's impressive 73 (+1). Klutke carded a near-even effort, shooting 37 (+1) on the front and 36 (E) on the back.

Blake Contente and Chris Johnson both turned in strong 78 (+6) rounds. Contente posted balanced nines of 37 (+1) and 41 (+5), while Johnson matched with 39 (+3) on both sides.

Joaquin Salgado followed closely with an 80 (+8), while Charlie Gingras rounded out the opening-day scoring with an 81 (+9).

The solid collection of scores gave the team a stable foundation heading into Round 2.

Round 2 Recap
Day two featured one of the team's best collective efforts, led by Charlie Gingras' bounce-back round of 73 (+1). Gingras opened with a 37 (+1) before closing strong with a 36 (E) on the back nine.

Blake Contente and Joaquin Salgado each recorded matching 75 (+3) rounds. Contente's opening-side 36 (E) established early momentum, while Salgado stayed consistent with 37 (+1) and 38 (+2).

Team leader Eric Klutke contributed a 79 (+7) after posting a 41 (+5) and 38 (+2) across the two sides.

With four players in the 70s, the Redhawks delivered one of their most balanced rounds of the event.

Round 3 Recap
The final round saw the team finish strong, led by an exceptional performance from Blake Contente, who fired a 69 (-3)—the team's lowest round of the entire tournament. Contente was dialed in from start to finish, going 34 (-2) on the front and 35 (-1) on the back.

Eric Klutke and Charlie Gingras delivered matching 73 (+1) rounds. Klutke opened impressively with a 35 (-1), while Gingras kept steady with nines of 36 (E) and 37 (+1).

Salgado and Johnson completed the round with 86 (+14) and 82 (+10) respectively.

Contente's under-par round helped the Redhawks finish the event on a high note.

Reflecting on the week, Coach John Konya, PGA, noted that the tournament presented some unique challenges for the team, "It was an odd event, in that each of our guys played some solid rounds, we just couldn't string 4 of them together. I was really happy with how we kept battling. Eric didn't have his best stuff, and Charlie struggled during the 2nd round, but both of them grinded, as they always do, to post respectable scores. It was great to have Blake play well. He's done it before, so I knew that he could get there again, and he's been trending, to what he did today, with the 7 birdies. I'm really happy for him! We'll regroup, and be ready next week at the Minnesota State event. I feel really good about this team, as they've all proven what they can do, we just need the scores to line up a little better. I'm really looking forward to this next event!"
