Benedictine Mesa scored in the first inning and added an insurance run in the fourth, riding steady defense to a 2–0 win over Mayville State.
The Redhawks struck quickly as
Negasse Williams walked, stole second, and scored on an
Olivia Chavez RBI single. Mayville State tried to answer but left a runner on third in the bottom half and struggled to generate offense early.
Benedictine doubled its lead in the fourth when
Alexa Rice singled and later scored on a well-struck RBI double by
Sarah Potter, making it 2–0.
Mayville State put runners on in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings but couldn't break through. The Comets' best chance came in the sixth with two aboard, but a pop-up and lineout ended the threat.
A seventh-inning single by
Ella Janzen kept Mayville State alive, but two quick outs sealed the shutout victory for Benedictine.
