Benedictine University Mesa Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of John Cappuccitti as the next head coach of the Redhawk men's soccer program.
Cappuccitti, a native of Mount Prospect, Illinois, brings a strong background in collegiate coaching, player development, and competitive experience. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Lake Forest College in 2018 and completed a Master of Science in Exercise Science & Health Promotion from California University of Pennsylvania in 2021. Most recently, Cappuccitti served as the first assistant coach at Elmhurst University during the 2024–25 season and has also been the Coach and Director of Coaching for FC United/Trevian SC's youth program since 2022.
His previous coaching experience includes stops at Team Evanston, Virginia Military Institute, Lake Forest College, and Knox College, where he helped guide the program to a conference championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance. In addition to soccer, Cappuccitti also coached varsity hockey at BGHW High School from 2019–24.
As a player, Cappuccitti competed professionally with Chicago House AC from 2022–23 and internationally with U.S. Select Teams in Brazil and Croatia. He enjoyed a standout collegiate playing career at Lake Forest College, where he served as team captain, was named the 2016 Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year, earned two All-MWC selections, and helped lead the Foresters to two NCAA Tournament appearances. He began his collegiate career at Loyola University Chicago.
