The Benedictine Mesa Women's Volleyball team faced a tough battle against Hope International, ultimately falling in a tightly contested five-set match with scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-18, 15-25, and 16-18.
Set 1:Â Benedictine Mesa started slow with Hope taking a quick lead. Despite a brief rally from Benedictine, Hope extended their lead. But the Redhawks Bresponded with a series of kills to take the lead and push the score to 18-14. Hope International tied it at 18-18, but Benedictine regained control and closed out the set 25-23.
Set 2:Â The second set was a back-and-forth battle. Benedictine fought hard to gain and maintain their lead, pushing the score to 11-8 with strong kills from
Railey Druxman and
Kylie Bartel. Despite a late tie at 19-19, Benedictine pulled ahead, taking advantage of errors by Hope International. A decisive kill secured a 25-23 victory for the Royals.
Set 3:Â Benedictine came out strong in the third set, with an early kill from
Kylie Bartel. The Redhawks surged ahead with key plays, including kills by Bartel and a service ace by
Vivianna Galvan, extending their lead to 14-9. Despite a late rally from Hope International, Benedictine maintained their momentum and took the set 25-18.
Set 4:Â In the fourth set, Benedictine traded points with Hope International early on. Despite strong offensive efforts, Hope International capitalized on errors and late-game momentum, winning the set 25-15 to force a decisive fifth set.
Set 5:Â The fifth set was a fierce battle. Benedictine jumped to an early 2-0 lead but Hope International fought back. A service ace by
Vivianna Galvan gave Benedictine a 10-8 lead but Hope International responded. Both teams exchanged points in a tense finish, but Hope International ultimately edged out a 16-18 win, taking the match.
